Arthur Smith & The Crackerjacks

The Crackerjacks For decades their wholesome and lively entertainment kept WBTV the channel of choice over a large swath of the two Carolinas. Arthur and his group were iconic, as representative of the stations as Crutchfield himself. Not many entertainment groups and broadcast companies can claim such mutual loyalty. Here are some photos taken over the years.

Kid Stuff

"Barker Bill" Ward Over the years WBTV produced an impressive number of local kids shows. There was "Tiny Town," "3-Ring Circus," "Castle in the Clouds," "Whistle Stop" and many more. We've found photos of some of them. If you have fond memories of one or more, or can think of any we've failed to mention, we'd like to hear from you.

Singing Cowboys

They came from out of the west: west Charlotte, west Gastonia, West Spartanburg, and other points west, to pick and sing on WBT.
