WBT - The Early ThirtiesPersonalities

The Charlotte News, Sep. 7, 1930

You Have Heard

Walter B. Haislip, Jr.You've often heard him. but perhaps this Is the first time you've seen Walter B. Haislip, Jr., one of the favorite announcers on the staff of radio station WBT, Charlotte.

He's a Virginian, was educated at Richmond College, received an AB from the University of Virginia, was elected to Phi Gamma Delta, and got a post-graduate course at Sorbonne University, Paris, France.

Walter is a quiet, unassuming sort of a chap; while he has been heard to express the belief that the pen, after all, is mightier than the sword, it is rumored that he spent two years overseas with the Eightieth Division and served with valor. Believe it or not, he also spent ten years as high school principal!

If you took the course of lessons in French language which was a weekly feature from WBT, a short time ago, It will be interesting to know that Mr. Haislip was the tutor!
