WBT - The Early ThirtiesIn The News

The Charlotte Observer, Aug. 30, 1930

AMOS N ANDY.

The mad aroused in the breasts of WBT patrons over the cutting-out of Amos and Andy is in a simmering state, only to be set boiling over with each reminder, for the old favorites have been sorely missed. Amos and Andy fans, however, will be interested in the latest word from their enterprise, which is that they have signed a new five-year contract to continue making the world safe for a certain tooth paste. Their annual salary, said to have been $75,000 each in the past, will have a substantial bonus added to it during the coming five years, making them the highest priced radio artists in the world.
