New Features Presented By Station WBT

David Ross On the Air For 15 Minutes This Afternoon In Interesting Presentation.

Among radio features of unusual attraction for the week of July 10, are listed several spotlight programs to be presented over WBT, Sunday afternoon at 4:30 David Ross will be on the air for fifteen minutes of poetry, with musical background. Mr. Ross is well known to radio audiences for his connection with Arabesque, for which he reads the famous opening poem, and in which he acts, as well as for his outstanding performances in other presentations. His Sunday afternoon program, known as Poets Gold, will include both standard classics and selections from modern poets of the day.

Carl Hinnant, organist, will broadcast half hour programs beginning at 9 A. M., Wednesday, and Friday morning. Carl who has become a great favorite among WBT listeners for his pleasing and characteristic renditions of both popular and ballad compositions, will make his entertainments practically all-request programs, in response to the many letters he has received asking for favorite pieces.

Monday evening at 7:30 the weird, languorous music of the East will herald the presentation of the dramatic feature designated as Arabesque. Actors who will appear on the program will be, among others, Frank Knight and David Ross and several new comers. The first part of the program will consist of a new chapter in the complicated eastern story which has been in progress for some time, but which is so planned that each episode comprises a complete whole. The second part will offer a second play presented ostensibly as a story drama for the entertainment of the characters in the opening play.

The dramatic presentation known as Original Sketches will be on the air with a talented supporting cast, Tuesday evening at 7:45. The orchestra, led by Michael Wise, will furnish the music incidental to the production. The play will offer a mystery drama, hinging on the solution of a skillfully committed crime.

Bob Mitchell and Bill Elliott are scheduled to appear July 13 at 9:15 P. M. Bob and Bill compose WBT's organ-tenor team, a team by the way that has made Victor recordings, which have helped not a little to gain them their wide popularity. Bob Mitchell, organist, will play in his inimitable style three selections from the popular music of the day, while Bill Elliott will sing one popular number and one ballad. Old Way Side, the cheery master of ceremonies for the Shut In's Frolic, will greet his many listeners on the morning of the 15th at 9:45 with the familiar poem, "The House by the Side of the Road," which Old Way Side reads as only he can present it, most delightfully. There will be string music by Uncle Joe, with his guitar, and a lot of friendly gossip from Old Way Side.
