CHARLOTTE, N. C. — The schedule of radio entertainment offered by the pioneer broadcasting station of the South for the week of June 16, through June 22, presents a bright list of really most promising features, states program manager of WBT, Charlotte, L. A. "Pete" Laudeman. At 9:30 a.m., EST, daily except Sunday, those two amiable old gentlemen, Colonel Goodbody and Judge Gordon, together with the A. & P. Melody Men, will present Our Daily Food, with discussions on foods, menus and recipes. Bill Davis and the Cotton Blossoms, with hill billy melody and Bill's own style of vocalization will broadcast from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m., Thursday. At 7:00 p m. of the same day, the Voice of Charlotte will be on the air, featuring music by the WBT orchestra and local artists, as well as interesting information about Charlotte. The Builders, with their music, poems and stories about great bankers and statesmen, will be the air at 9:15 p.m., Thursday.
Among many others, five features of outstanding interest are listed for Friday, June 17: At 9:30 a.m., EST, Carl Hinnant, who is scheduled for Monday and Wednesday at the same hour, with selections of popular music rendered at the Wurtlitzer; the Shut-Ins' Frolic at 9:45 a.m., featuring Old Way Side, assisted by his cohorts of string musicians; from 8:30 to 9:00 p.m.; the Swanee Revue, consisting of music by the orchestra, led by Billy Hamilton, the songs of the Dixonians Quartet, and Al Garr, and the sparkling personality of Lee Everett, master of ceremonies; Cliff Carlisle, who is to appear also Monday and Wednesday at the same hour, at 9:15 p.m., for a program of hill billy music and songs; the well known popular organ-tenor team, Bob Mitchell and Bill Elliott, Victor recording artists, scheduled Monday evening, at 9:45 p.m. .
On Sunday, June 19, from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m., EST, will be presented Majestic Time, directed and produced by the: capable hand and voice of Clair Shadwell, with music by the orchestra, led by Michael Wise, with the songs of the Snowmen Quartet and Al Garr. From 1:30 to 1:45 p.m. the Marionettes will present another program of classic and semi-classic music. At 1:45 Philco Phil, accompanied by pipe organ music, will sing for his ever-increasing group of radio admirers his popular songs.
Bo Buford, singing her blues songs and playing her characteristic piano selections will be on the air again for a 15-minute program Monday night beginning at 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday from 1:00 to 1:30 p. m., the Southerners dance band, directed by Billy Hamilton, will bring to the radio audience a half-hour of modern syncopation. At 7:00 p.m. of the same day the Coca-Cola program presents good old Uncle Eefraim Lee and the Cotton Blossoms led by Bill Davis. Original Sketches, which for some time has not been on the air, will be resumed Tuesday evening from 7:45 to 8:00 p.m., featuring again Inspector Galloway and Doctor Dimitri in one of their thrilling mystery problems. From 8:00 to 8:30, the Dixie Concert Orchestra, directed by Michael Wise, will offer a presentation of classic music.
The Ernest Brown Artist Recital, with songs by the students of the Ernest Brown Vocal Studios, is scheduled for 9:15 o'clock that evening. The Mayview Manor Program, which has become during the few weeks it has been on the air, one of the most outstanding presentations from WBT, with music by the orchestra, led by Billy Hamilton, solos by Al Garr and Bill Elliott; songs by the quartet, and an interesting sketch, will be broadcast from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday evening.
