Douglas "Doug" G. Bell, 85, of Charlotte passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016.

Doug was a native of Gaston County and the son of the late Carl and Lola Beattie Bell.

Graveside service will be 2 PM Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Gaston Memorial Park, in Gastonia, with Reverend Bobby Morrow officiating.

The family will receive friends at the gravesite immediately following the service.

Doug had a distinguished career in radio and television broadcasting. He was associated with WSOC, WBTV in Charlotte and WMIT and WFGW in Black Mountain. He was a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church in Charlotte.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lucille Hollifield Bell; son, Jeff Bell (Gwyn) and their children, Scott and Hailey, daughters; LuAnn Christy (Mark) and their children, Megan and Taylor, Allison Jenkins (Gary) and their son Evan, daughter-in-law, Melanie Bell and children Lauren, Emily, Martin and Matthew.

In addition to his parents Doug was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Kevin Bell, two brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be made to Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.
